Pentland Brands

Global website, content management system & iCIMS integration.

Global website, CMS and branded iCIMS integration for a billion pound, family-owned business.

The Work

Pentland Brands are a privately owned, family run, global, billion pound company that own some of the most iconic fashion brands in the world, from Berghaus to Boxfresh and Karen Millen to Kickers. Our particular favourite is Reebok, which transformed Pentland Brands after owner Stephen Rubin turned a $77,500 stake into $770 million in only 10 years.

We translated their new brand look into a modern, sophisticated and stylish design to take them and their brands forward. A particular challenge was how to sympathetically treat a number of strong brands without losing what the Pentland brand itself means. Using a powerful modular design, Pentland have the tools they need to manage their digital home and introduce new group sites as they continue to grow.

Communitee

Bespoke web application for t-shirt design, printing and selling.

Creation of a responsive web application allowing charities, brands and IP owners to design, print and sell their own garments.

Visit Live Site

Communitee came to us with an innovative idea to create an application that allows charities, brands and IP owners to design, print and sell their own t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. We jumped at the chance to put our UX and application development skills to good use.

Working closely with the Communitee team we started with the fundamental core of what users would need to do in what is a complex application, and made the user flow of designing garments simple and easy. In a quick 4-step process you can create a design, set price and profits, create a campaign page and launch a campaign.

The application deals with everything from getting the campaign verified with Communitee staff, pushing a campaign live, purchasing garments, account management and paying campaign owners after a successful campaign.

Over the course of a year the service has:

Signed up a number of high profile users
Seen 1,110 garments sold in a single campaign
Raised £6,780 for the Jonny Wilkinson Foundation
Raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes

#WhatNormalFeelsLike

Hard-hitting campaign leveraging social media.

A powerful message and national campaign from top breast cancer charity CoppaFeel.

View Live Site

The Brief

CoppaFeel wanted to run a rather ingenious and hard-hitting campaign to get even more people checking their boobs. The idea, using the hashtag #whatnormalfeelslike, was to get people thinking differently about their boobs and ultimately checking more often.

Summary

The ambitious campaign started with hundreds of people photographing their boobs at a Boob Booth set up by CoppaFeel in London and describing their bits. These real-life images from ladies (and men) from all walks of life were then used across social media, the CoppaFeel website, universities and festivals across the country. A number of brave souls even agreed to their boobs being used in magazines, billboards and store changing rooms!

What We Did

Working closely with the CoppaFeel team and the uber talented people at Karmarama, we took a feed of the boob images and data, creating what must be the biggest collection of relatively safe-for-work boob images ever. The data was integrated into the existing WordPress website we designed and built for easy viewing and sharing.

The site is built on ExpressionEngine using our very own front-end HTML5 framework, latest development techniques and bespoke plugins. We also integrated with 3rd party APIs from Postcode Anywhere, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube (using our Social Hoover).

Working With The Dinner Set

The Future

The service was launched on 10th September 2014 and is already witnessing great traction. We're in Phase II of the build and looking at digital marketing (heavily leveraging social media), adding functionality and general growth.

Irish Beef

Commercial food promotional website.

A re-imagining of an existing site with a fully responsive rebuild and scalable WordPress implementation.

The Brief

Charged with a complete re-vamp of the old, tired looking version of the site whilst preserving much of the existing content. It had to use the same CMS, WordPress, and follow the theme presented by the client in their initial design.

Summary

Working for the design agency, Spinnaker, we were presented with a modular design, a single page for mobile and a single page for desktop, with all the building blocks for the site from which the other pages were to be constructed. The aim of the site was to re-invigorate the content and re-engage with the end users.

Extending Wordpress

We took the existing site implementation and turned it into a scalable, high-traffic WordPress website. Intelligent use of WordPress's inbuilt functionally and 3rd party plugins (such as repeating fields) allowed us to build the unique page templates required for each section, create a flexible number of recipe steps and enable use of a single template to drive the various layouts for other sections.

The result is an easy to use, beautiful looking website that made its way to number one on Google for a number of search terms.

Remote hosting

In this instance, the site was hosted by the client on a private set of servers which meant we had no direct access. To get round this, we worked closely with Spinnaker on packaging up an installable set of files for the IT team responsible for deploying the site. Support was carried out by phone, email and our ticketing system while a process for reglar updates was created to package up code in an easy to roll out fashion.

The site was re-launched in October 2015 and has seen a good up take in traffic and organic SEO. New recipes and Chefs are being added to the site monthly as well a ‘How To’ section with useful beef cooking tips!

Cue & Co

Brand refresh, marketing materials and content managed website.

Design, website development, branding and marketing for this popular luxury furnitire maker and interior design company.

View Live Site

Cue & Co came to us needing to bring their company's digital presence, marketing, brand and website up to date. As high-end bespoke furniture makers they needed an online presence and supporting materials that were as beautiful as the products they make. Starting with looking at how they make their products (on site and by hand) we used the concept of "made here, made for you" to update the brand, create eye catching marketing materials and develop a website that converts voyeurs into purchasers.

gpstudio

Retail & hospitality design agency website rebuild.

Design consultancy and implementation of the new layout on the Wordpress platform.

The Brief

We were approached by the lovely team at gpstudio and asked to rebuild their existing website using a modern, responsive approach based on an initial design provided by them.

Summary

Working with the design team we honed the original concept into something that would work across numerous devices and, importantly, allow them to import content from their old site. The layout and colours of the new site are deliberately chosen to showcase the branding and design work GP Studio are renowned for.

Working with gpstudio

A super friendly team of designers made collaborating with them a pleasure. Open to new ideas, keen to learn and understand how a modern website is built made updating the design a piece of cake. Use of Dropbox for sharing files, regular phone calls to discuss progress and, during the build phase, use of our stage environment to keep them up to date with the state of the site kept them in the loop.

Technical implementation

Built utilising our own responsive HTML5 framework and implemented on the Wordpress platform. The CMS was the only choice as the previous iteration of the site also used this and we needed to import some of the old content. A custom field plugin was used to provide some flexibility when creating new posts on the Projects and Arch Window pages.

The Arch Window

gpstudio are based in Southwark and, as part of their working space, they have a unique gallery under the railway arches where they curate a wide variety of art. Outside of the main business this was still an important aspect of the site, the core fields plug-in was used to allow them some flexibility to create more portfolio style entries for the artists they promote.

CoppaFeel

Responsive design, WordPress development, e-commerce and digital marketing

High-traffic mobile-friendly WordPress website, integrated e-commerce Shopify store, paid for events, SMS reminders, blog and social media campaigns with 3rd party API integration. Whew!

View Live Site

The Problem

We'd previously helped CoppaFeel out of a tight spot when their previous agency let them down by not using WordPress in the right way – the old site was slow, difficult to keep updated and not mobile friendly. We fixed the problems and created a stable, mobile-friendly version of the site from which to improve.

This time round, we were given the time, budget and means by which to solve a new problem – an outdated design that didn't match the updated brand and other offline and digital marketing efforts

The Solution

Working to an increase in popularity and traffic, we took the new CoppaFeel brand requirements and designed a fully mobile-friendly website that was on brand, aligned with supporting marketing material and which allowed the growing CoppaFeel team to easily create and edit content. We replaced a tired, limited CMS implementation with modular design where pages of different styles and types could be created with ease.

Alongside a new design we implemented a host of new and updated technical features, including:

A new e-commerce store with full integration between Shopify and WordPress.
Event sign up and purchasing.
API integration with their chosen SMS provider.
Social media campaign support.
Donation engine.
Advanced form and data collection.
